Arcadis CEO for the UK and Ireland, Mark Cowlard, spoke at the UK Construction Week conference about a range of important issues such as work-life balance, mental health and diversity in construction.

Talking more openly about mental health
Mark's presentation coincided with Mental Health Week, a time when global influential companies like Arcadis reflect on how they can have a further positive impact on employees through prioritising their physical, mental and emotional wellness.
Through Mark's presentation and his continuing advocacy and awareness raising for mental health issues, others are encouraged to speak openly about mental health issues and explore what can be done to help make mental health better understood.

Since joining Arcadis, Mark has had various roles including Global Head of Rail, Managing Director UK Transportation, Risk and Operations Director, and Managing Director for Buildings. Mark is a Quantity Surveyor by background, holding an Eminent Fellowship from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors where until recently he was also a Non-Executive Director.
Previously Mark spent 10 years working for Atkins where he performed in various business leadership roles including Managing Director for Rail Solutions. He also has worked in the Oil and Gas and Retail sectors and in Construction Litigation.
