Industry veteran Wendy Lopez at AECOM receives Legacy Award

Wendy Lopez, Central Region Transportation Business Line Leader at AECOM, is the recipient of ENR Texas & Louisiana’s sixth annual Legacy Award.

This award from ENR recognizes industry veterans for their contributions to their profession and community. ENR’s judges considered each nominee’s history of innovation, outstanding career highlights, plus engagement within the industry and the community.

Outstanding management and tech experience

Wendy has more than 36 years of management and technical experience and currently serves as AECOM’s Central Region Transportation Business Line Leader, managing more than 1,000 employees across 22 states.

Wendy has led AECOM in its efforts to secure the environmental clearance for the planned high-speed rail project between Dallas and Houston. She also managed AECOM’s work on the City of Dallas Resilience Plan and has led design services for some of Dallas/Fort Worth’s top infrastructure projects.

Entering the hall of fame

Wendy’s career accomplishments have also been recognized by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she was selected for the alumni hall of fame. She was also elected to the American Society of Civil Engineers Grade of Fellow.

Before joining AECOM, Wendy was CEO of Wendy Lopez and Associates and LopezGarcia Group, where she grew the company from a one-person engineering consulting firm to an engineering and environmental services company with 200 employees. She later sold the business to URS Corp. which was later acquired by AECOM.

An important part of many committees

Wendy serves on a number of boards and committees, is the Dallas Regional Chamber Infrastructure Task Force Chair and is President of the International Women’s Forum (IWF) Dallas chapter.

Wendy is also leading the City of Dallas’ first Comprehensive Environmental and Climate Action Plan, and her team is involved in high speed transportation and smart infrastructure projects for managing urban systems of the future.
