Women working at Nottingham Trent University (NTU) care about the wellbeing of all females on campus. Every year, staff help NTU host This Girl Can Week - a week-long selection of free sports and social situations to inspire women to get out and get active.

Taking place each November, the event offers a whole host of activities for NTU's women, designed to promote the benefits of getting involved in sport. The week celebrates all of the university's female students, recognising their achievements and encouraging them to be active and try new things.

NTU believes sport can help solve many issues

An example event from This Girl Can Week is a 'Girls Night In' at the the City Students' Union, a free event including pizza and lots of fun and games. Other activities include the likes of: Mini Tennis, Women's Tennis, Belly Dance, Self Defence, 'Boob Ball', Zumba, Women's Basketball, Netball and Spin classes.

Katy Teasdale, Sports Development Manager at NTU, told Notts TV "The mental benefits of becoming involved in sport are becoming more apparent, and that's something that myself and my team are really passionate about. Levels of anxiety, levels of loneliness - all the things you can experience when you're at university, when you're away from home, particularly leading up to Christmas - can be really hard for students and we want to try and help show that sport can help with some of those issues."
