Heike Harmgart, Managing Director for the EBRD's Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Region, has been selected as one of Forbes Middle East's 100 Power Businesswomen, ranking sixth on the list.

Creating and delivering strategy
Based in Cairo, Heike oversees a team of 150 staff responsible for the creation and delivery of the EBRD’s strategy and business plan for her region that covers Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, the West Bank and Gaza.
A German national, Heike joined the EBRD as an economist. In 2013 she became EBRD’s first Head of Office in Jordan, based in Amman. She was appointed Director for the Eastern Mediterranean after the EBRD expanded under her local leadership into Lebanon and West Bank and Gaza.
Before her career at the EBRD, Heike worked for the Economist Intelligence Unit and the Institute for Fiscal Studies. She holds a PhD in economics from University College London.
