Nottingham Trent University has been granted the Bronze Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), run by the UK's Ministry of Defence.

Honoured by recognition from the Armed Forces

Nottingham Trent University is a proud supporter of the Armed Forces. The University is aware of the huge commitment and sacrifice that serving members of the Armed Forces and veterans give, and also the commitment of their families.

"To be recognised for our public commitment to supporting staff and potential employees that are part of the Armed Forces Community is a privilege and an honour," stated the University.

Welcoming reservists and veterans into employment

Max Bardwell, Senior Business Development Manager at NTU's Medical Technologies Innovation Facility and former reservist added: “The Armed Forces Covenant is fundamentally about enabling wider participation in higher education and higher education employment; by lowering barriers for those who might otherwise find it prohibitively difficult to engage. This speaks to the core of NTU’s mission and is therefore why we are pleased at being able to sign up to the covenant.”

Nottingham Trent University understands that reservists and veterans bring a variety of transferable skills and qualities to the civilian workplace, developed throughout their military careers, and the university looks forward to continuing its work in support of the Armed Forces in the coming years.

Among its many accolades, Nottingham Trent University is also named University of the Year in the Guardian University Awards; University of the Year by Times Higher Education; and Modern University of the Year by The Times and Sunday Times
