Eaton named Corporation of the Year for supplier diversity

 November 02, 2020

Eaton has been nominated by the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) as a 2020 Corporation of the Year.

Eaton is also a corporate member of the NMSDC organisation that advances Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American suppliers in the global corporate supply chain.

"Eaton is committed to continuing to leverage our award-winning supplier diversity strategy to create long-term and sustainable economic impact in the communities in which we live, work and serve," says Rogerio Branco, Executive Vice President, Supply Chain Management.

Including diverse companies in its supply base

Eaton's supplier diversity mission is to achieve community and economic impact by including diverse companies throughout its supply base.

Eaton strives to build strategic partnerships based on three important pillars:

  • innovation and value
  • economic inclusion
  • business development

The company's supplier diversity team commits to creating a sustainable diverse sourcing strategy by focusing on increasing participation of diverse businesses throughout our supply chain; setting and achieving annual diverse spend targets across all areas of spend; using advanced analytics to conduct benchmarking and continuous improvement; and actively participating in diversity conventions, events and education organizations.

Supporting minority, women and veteran-owned businesses

Eaton’s combined spending with minority, women and veteran-owned diverse businesses was greater than 33 percent of supplier spending in the U.S. in 2019 with a total of $829 million going to minority, women, and veteran-owned businesses.

Collectively, Eaton purchased $1.9 billion of goods and services from small and diverse suppliers in 2019.
