 May 26, 2021

Diageo is committed to supporting an inclusive and thriving hospitality sector that works for all. With a focus on adult education, Diageo's skills programmes are implemented in partnership with local educational, governmental and training organisations.

Diageo's flagship skills programme, Learning for Life, provides tools, training and skills in key areas related to the industry and value chain including hospitality, entrepreneurship and bartending

Ines Fonseca is a Marketing Manager for Diageo whisky brand J&B. She shares her experience as a Learning for Life volunteer.

“It is extremely inspiring to see Diageo putting effort and resources behind this dream of impacting communities and people beyond the business," she says.

Promoting gender equality and empowerment

Diageo's Learning for Life programme is designed to promote:

  • gender equality and empower women and girls
  • inclusive sustainable growth
  • skills, employability, and lifelong learning
  • better health and well-being

Learning for Life matches high-potential individuals with vacancies within the industry and works to reduce the gap between people’s skills and the competencies required by employers.

By ensuring work experience for at least 70% of participants, the programme supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of achieving employment and decent work for all.
