Jannet Walker Ford is WSP USA's Senior Vice President of national transit and rail market leader.
She helps grow WSP's business in the transit and rail markets; develops client relationships within state and local transit agencies, consultants, industry associations, railroads and contractors; and establishes strategies that position WSP for major advisory, planning, design, program management and construction management assignments. She also participates in strategic pursuits and serves as principal-in-charge or project director on select projects.
Jannet spoke to METRO magazine for a consultant roundtable about the the intersection of transit, social equity, and sustainability.
"Equity is the defining economic issue of this generation," says Jannet as she discusses how vulnerable communities need affordable transportation to access jobs, education, and healthcare. For her, transit is key to achieving equity-related goals.
"The future of public transportation looks bright. It’s a time of opportunity and transformational change as the entire transit community works to create a future that will be more sustainable, resilient, customer centric and equitable," tweeted Jannet in response to the article.
