Transitioning to a new career after serving in the military isn’t just about a change of jobs. It’s bigger than that.

Capgemini employee Shellina Warnack-Martin served as a U.S. Marine and military spouse and shares the realities of service: the career sacrifices, the moves, the deployments, and everything else in between.

"I am always grateful to those who have or are serving and my admiration to the amazing spouses," she says.

Receiving support from Capgemini's ERG

Shellina works for Capgemini Government Solutions in Houston, Texas as a Salesforce Certified Administrator. Alongside further veterans at Capgemini, Shellina is supported by the company's Veterans Employee Resource Group (VERG).

VERG was founded with a mission to help veterans pursue and grow their careers at Capgemini, employing the unique skills, experience, talent and dedication they bring to every opportunity. It also strives to provide opportunities to the families of veterans as a tribute to their sacrifice and service.

With a strong focus on veteran recruitment, VERG members volunteer at national veteran recruiting events across the country to review resumes and advise on interview preparation; the goal is to help strengthen the pipeline of qualified and diverse veteran candidates in the market.

In addition to helping veterans transition into civilian life, VERG members are dedicated to giving back to the communities in which they live and work. Throughout the year, VERG team prepares care packages, volunteers at food pantries, and visits with elderly veterans—all through Disabled American Veterans and VA Hospital Outreach programs.

In the UK, the Armed Forces Covenant has cited Capgemini’s commitment to veterans and reservists, awarding the company Silver for their Defence Employer Recognition Scheme

Volunteer, employee-led centers of excellence

Capgemini's Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are volunteer, employee-led centers of excellence help increase development, retention, engagement, recruiting, and knowledge sharing.

Collectively, they celebrate different perspectives and foster diversity and inclusion and help cultivate a business culture that values and respects differences, enabling colleagues to deliver innovative and collaborative solutions for clients.
