Kim Marotta leads Beam Suntory’s sustainability strategy nature pillar

Kim Marotta is Beam Suntory's Global Vice President of Environmental Sustainability and oversees the company’s environmental sustainability strategy.

Kim leads the ‘Nature Positive’ pillar of Beam Suntory’s Proof Positive sustainability strategy which includes efforts to reduce greenhouse gasses by 50 percent across direct operations by 2030, support the ambition to remove more carbon than is emitted across the entire value chain by 2040, reduce water usage for every unit of production by 50 percent by 2030 and replenish more water than is used in direct operations to water sources by 2040. The company has also set ambitious goals to replenish forests, develop sustainable packaging, and more.

Kim partners across the business to drive progress against environmental sustainability goals, and with other senior leaders who lead the company’s community and consumer-focused Proof Positive initiatives and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agenda.

Kim is spotlighted by key industry group

As part of the Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable (BIER) Member Spotlight series, Kim shares her insights into the Beam Suntory’s Proof Positive sustainability strategy and their ambitious goals for 2030. Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable (BIER) is a technical coalition of leading global beverage companies working together to advance environmental sustainability within the beverage sector.

"We are building a center of excellence aligned with our ambitious goals across water, climate, packaging, and farm and field. We have wholly-owned manufacturing facilities across the globe that are driving best practices in partnership with our procurement and packaging teams. It’s incredibly energizing!" says Kim.

"Our Proof Positive sustainability strategy, representing investments of more than $1 billion, launched earlier this year, inspired by the leadership of our parent company, Suntory Holdings, and with ambitious goals for 2030 across nature, consumers, and communities."

“There are so many exciting things going on, both as we operationalize our new sustainability strategy, and also support the inherent passion of the people who work across our brands,” she adds.
