Diageo Graduate schemes offer a combination of formal training, mentoring and coaching from respected colleagues and, most importantly, real world, on-the-job experience.

Lucy Hulbert, Commercial Graduate at Diageo, shares her graduate interview advice.

“Learn as much as you can about the role and industry you’re applying for, this will help you to stand out and show how much preparation you have done. Try to bring your CV to life and show the interviewers who you really are, using real life examples where possible to provide a clear insight into what you’re like as a person," Lucy explains.

Inspiring ambitious graduates

Diageo set up its graduate programmes to stretch and inspire ambitious, commercially savvy graduates, opening up a world of future opportunities.

As a starting point, graduates are given a Graduate Passport that unlocks challenges in different areas of the business.

Diageo introduces graduates to global networks so they can experience different cultures and build valuable contacts. Depending on their aspirations and the opportunities available, graduates may be able to spend part of the programme living and working in another country.

Taking part in projects that make a difference

Diageo is passionate about building thriving communities. As part of the programme, graduates also have the opportunity to take part in projects in society that make a far-reaching difference.

Shortly after walking through the door, graduates are allocated a senior mentor and an international and/or local buddy. Through these relationships they receive coaching, guidance, and an invaluable opportunity to learn from experienced colleagues.

Graduates also have the opportunity to take part in formal training designed to develop their personal and professional skills. Through virtual connect sessions, graduates join a number of senior leaders and peers around the world to share ideas and thoughts on the business.

Aligned with beliefs

Zoe Hetherington, a Diageo Marketing Graduate, shares her advice, "Find your reason why. Make sure you know why you want to work for Diageo and why Diageo should choose you, whilst Diageo is a global leader in beverage and alcohol with some incredible brands, it can’t be your only reason why. For example, finding a company that aligned with my beliefs was really important to me."
