Supporting the EIB Group's gender initiative
Linnet is from the islands of Jamaica and Saint Kitts and Nevis and she actively supports the implementation of the EIB Group's mandate in the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries. and
"In the Caribbean, women are often considered to be the backbones of society given their position and role as primary caregivers, heads of households and entrepreneurs. As a result I am aware of how impactful gender responsive investing can be for a society," she says. "This is why I am particularly proud to be working to support the Bank's gender initiative in Africa SheInvest."
Boosting equality through gender responsive investing
SheInvest helps the Bank to boost gender equality and women's economic empowerment across Africa through gender responsive investing.
Linnet explains: "The initiative helps improve the lives of women and girls across the continent by enabling financial inclusion and supporting vital social and economic infrastructure projects that affect women's daily activities."
Driving Bank's goals for climate finance
Linnet's work also includes supporting the implementation of the Climate Bank Roadmap, which outlines the Bank's goals for climate finance.
"This goes hand-in-hand with the commitment to gender equality gender inequalities in access to resources and opportunities systematically disadvantaged women and girls rendering them even more vulnerable to weather catastrophes, flooding, drought and rising sea levels and less resilient or capable of bouncing back after a shock," she explains.
"Through initiatives like SheInvest, the EIB Group can be more impactful as the climate bank as it seeks to support partner countries in building a more resilient and sustainable future. Empowered women can champion climate action and the sustainable development of their communities and country," Linnet adds.
