Medtronic Australasia, a subsidiary of Medtronic plc - the global leader in medical technology - has been certified as a Great Place to Work® in Australia and New Zealand for the second year in a row.
Great Place to Work Certification™ is recognized worldwide as the global benchmark for identifying outstanding employee experiences.
Improving employee experience
Medtronic has continuously improved employee experience by driving inclusivity, connection, and purpose for employees throughout the pandemic and beyond. Building on the strong foundations laid during the pandemic, Medtronic has delivered a strong hybrid working model, coupled with mental health and community-building initiatives that foster a sense of connection and belonging at work.
Link between employee work and patient impact
Managing Director of Medtronic Australasia, Liz Carnabuci, said creating a strong link between employee work and its impact on patients and society has been key to becoming a Great Place to Work®.
“Being a great place to work for our employees is enshrined in the Mission at Medtronic – which ensures that our employees feel a sense of personal satisfaction in the work they do every day,” she said.
“We want the people who use our products to get the best of Medtronic, and that starts with our employees. In fact, our latest Organisational Health Employee Survey results show that 98% of employees understand how their work impacts patient outcomes."
“That’s why we remain committed to creating a workplace that fosters innovation and puts patient outcomes at the front and centre of our work.”
Driving inclusion increases employee engagement
Medtronic’s HR Director for Australia & New Zealand (ANZ), Karen Newell, said initiatives that drive inclusion have been key to increasing employee engagement that ultimately make Medtronic a Great Place to Work®.
“In conjunction with our efforts to enhance flexibility through our hybrid working model, we remain focused on delivering initiatives that allow our employees to bring their best selves to work. Our Employee Resource Groups (ERG) play an important role in fostering a sense of belonging and strengthening allyship at Medtronic. We’re proud to have introduced two new ERGs that support people with disabilities and young professionals, which are in addition to our ERGs that support the LGBTQIA+ community, women, and parents,” she said.
“We also know that maintaining good mental health requires ongoing efforts, which is why we have introduced initiatives such as Mindful Mondays, Health and Wellbeing Days, and MEN-tal health month which are intended to raise awareness about, and provide space to address, mental health," she added.
“As the needs of our staff evolve, so too will our response and initiatives. Our investment in staff wellbeing and engagement has delivered positive outcomes for the people who use our technologies, and that’s why we look forward to working with our employees to continuously improve our workplace year after year.”
