 August 23, 2022

Medtronic Australasia is named as one of Australia’s Best Workplaces in 2022 by Great Place to Work.

"We’re absolutely delighted to be on the Best Workplaces list for the second year running. Thanks to all employees for making this possible. This recognition is also a testament to Medtronic’s commitment to employee well-being and work-life balance," said Medtronic

A commitment to attracting and retaining the best talent

“It is a great honour to be recognised as one of Australia’s Best Workplaces for the second year running,” said Liz Carnabuci, Managing Director and Vice President of Medtronic Australasia.

“This recognition underscores our commitment to attracting and retaining the best talent, our strong focus on health and wellbeing, and our unique culture that fosters a sense of belonging in an inclusive, diverse and equitable workplace.”

Improving the work/life balance

Medtronic ranked 13 in the medium category of Australia’s Best Workplaces list. Medtronic has implemented various initiatives aimed at improving work-life balance. This includes the adoption of a Hybrid Work Model at the end of 2021. The model balances on-site work and the flexibility of remote work to enhance engagement and productivity, foster continued collaboration, and strengthen Medtronic’s ability to recruit and retain top talent.

In tandem with its Hybrid Work Model, Medtronic also rolled out its YesFlex program, designed to empower all employees to adopt a work schedule best suited to their lifestyle. Employees are also entitled to leave offerings, such as parental leave, personal carers leave, and Health and Wellbeing leave.

Medtronic remains strongly committed to its Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (IDE) goals, which is what powers Medtronic’s Mission forward. Tenet 5 of the Mission, which is ‘to recognise the personal worth of all employees’, stands at the heart of the company’s efforts to create an inclusive workplace.

“Our unwavering commitment to IDE means we are working toward zero barriers to opportunity within Medtronic and to create a culture where all employees belong, are respected and feel valued for who they are and the life experiences they bring,” said Karen Newell, HR Director for Medtronic Australasia.

“If our employees can bring their full selves to our workplace, we know they will thrive and perform at their best.”

Increasing employee engagement

Medtronic continues to focus on initiatives that increase employee engagement, such as its volunteer activities and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), which are employee-led groups aiming to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace.

“Our ERGs help remove barriers to engagement by providing spaces for people with shared identities, backgrounds and interests, including people from underrepresented groups,” added Karen.
