Engineering News Record highlighted that AECOM Tishman, along with Gensler, is designing the $9.5-billion Terminal One at John F. Kennedy Airport in Queens, N.Y., a privately financed project that is part of a larger $18-billion redevelopment of the 74-year-old facility.
The project team aims for 30 per cent minority or women-owned business enterprise participation and is pursuing LEED Silver certification. When built, the 23-gate terminal will be more than 2.4 million sq ft, including 300,000 sq ft of dining, retail, lounges and recreational space. Groundbreaking on the project took place last year, with the new terminal set to open in 2026.
