Diageo celebrates the achievements of talented young individuals in its local communities, and as such recently announced recipients of the 34th Annual Finbarr Flood Scholarships.

Anastasiia Shyryvera from Liberties College won the Finbarr Flood Award for her exceptional commitment to personal growth and her positive influence on others. She received the award for her outstanding commitment to personal growth and for her positive influence on others.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, one of the seven recipients of the award, Anastasiia said: “I moved to Ireland about two years ago, this award means that people believe in me. It’s a different country with a different language and a different system. I’m from Ukraine. It was a huge change coming here. I did a PLC course in Liberty College, and they put me forward for the award. I got a distinction in college, and I was a class rep. I did the PLC to understand what I wanted to do. Now I’m studying mathematical science."

"It’s just my mum here with me, she’s proud of me, she put a lot of work into raising me. My dad is still in Ukraine, my award made him so happy. It’s difficult without my father, it’s hard not having him physically with me."

Celebrating academic excellence

The 34th Annual Finbarr Flood Scholarships celebrates academic excellence and a commitment to education among students from the local community around St. James’s Gate in Dublin, Ireland.

Seven outstanding students received recognition along with their teachers and families and a laptop package to help them as they proceed into third level education.

The awardees were nominated by their teachers for their exceptional performance and dedication to their studies, often overcoming significant individual challenges.

"Congratulations to Tori Kinsella & Anastasiia Shyryvera [pictured above] for winning the Finbarr Flood Award for Outstanding Achievement," congratulated Diageo.
