Cynthia has broken open-water swimming records, with her first experience being to swim from Cancun to Isla Mujeres, a 10 kilometre stretch, in just 2.5 hours.

Her greatest swimming experience, she says, was swimming with whales and being surrounded by dolphins.

"When they passed under me, the little ones would turn around just to look at me," recalls Cynthia.

Cynthia is a strong team player and values collaboration.

Cynthia dispels a common misconception of open-water swimming that "People think it's a solo sport, but actually there's a fantastic crew including a boat captain and crew, a judge, a coach, and a kayaker."

In 2021, Cynthia made news as the first Mexican and Latin-American woman to swim the length of Lake Tahoe in the USA.

In 2023, Cynthia achieved a remarkable feat of swimming in three seas on three continents in just 33 days.
