Did you know that at at the European bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) more than 40 per cent their investments are now in green finance?

Through the bank's Green Economy Transition approach, the are supporting many countries’ shift towards a low carbon future. So what this means is mainstreaming "green" into every sector of these countries' economies. It also means addressing a number of other barriers to areas in relation to sustainable development.

The EBRD also has a very strong and consistent focus on gender equality and economic inclusion, mobilising their funds to create growth and many jobs.

Working to support women-owned businesses

EBRD knows that women entrepreneurship plays a major role in the creation of jobs and in helping to drive strong economic growth. EBRD believes that through creating equal opportunities for women in business, it is not only a question of gender equality, but it is also indeed an economic priority. That is why in the countries where EBRD operates, they most certainly go out of their way to help women entrepreneurs and business owners succeed and become engaged in business.

EBRD works hard to help women unlock their talent and potential, and to strengthen their skills by encouraging their full participation in business. EBRD provides access to finance via credit lines to local banks that are dedicated to women-led small and medium-size businesses, and who provide useful business resources, advice, training and support for women entrepreneurs and women-owned businesses. ETRD works closely with partner banks to help provide financial products that meet the needs of women-led businesses, and progress the way they work.

In fact, EBRD has worked with many thousands of successful women in business across 26 countries. EBRD knows that with correct support, women-led businesses not only grow and develop, but they can most certainly succeed.
