The passion of the Medtronic family
One of the number one reasons why Natalie enjoys working at Medtronic is because of the passion of the Medtronic family and how the company’s people make a difference.
She explains: “I recall my first day at Medtronic back in 2003. I was overwhelmed with the number of enthusiastic 'hellos' I received in the corridors, not just on my first day, but for many years to come after that. At first I thought it was just because I had been working in a public hospital and the difference in work environment must have been the reason, but it was very clear to me that passion was the driving force of Medtronic employees, which I soon adopted myself and still carry to this day.”
Natalie continues to enjoy working with a fantastic team and colleagues. She is part of a team of intelligent, passionate and fun people who share her passion for Medtronic therapies and the world of HE&R.
“We spend a lot of time together problem solving major barriers to ensure we best understand our technology. But their passion and loyalty to solve whatever is at hand is loud and clear,” she says.
Tackling external forces head-on
Natalie cites “external forces” as her greatest work challenge. This is because she primarily deals with governments and payers who are being asked to pay for great technologies but manage very tight budgets.
Natalie says: “The conversation is always about how they can grant access to these technologies but still make up their budgets.”
Being in the right place at the right time
Natalie enjoys working in a supportive environment and especially likes her location of Sydney, Australia – as it is full of sun, beaches and plenty of places to explore!
Through working with Medtronic, Natalie is able to enjoy her location in her spare time, whilst developing her skills through a rewarding career.
“I've been fortunate to have been in the right place and the right time, working for leaders who have clear sight of their role and the role they have in creating and developing their talent,” she adds.
“I consider myself to be a hardball negotiator (when it's called for), so those who know me around the office could find this negotiator persona quite different to my everyday style.”
