McDonald's unveils innovative restaurants of the future

 May 08, 2019

Forward-thinking McDonald's executives have been busy giving thousands of restaurants a surprising new look and feel in what the company is calling its Experience of the Future.

From incorporating digital kiosks, through to providing friendly staff delivering food right to customers' tables, the restaurants are combining modern technology with good old-fashioned values. The new restaurant spaces are offering a truly exciting place for employees to do their work.

Exciting job positions available in modern surroundings

With the new technology comes new roles for women to apply for: like Guest Experience Leaders. In this role, employees have the opportunity to answer customers' questions, guide them through the ordering process and offer recommendations based on what customers like.

McDonald's has uniquely customized its restaurants' remodel: from the layout to the furniture material, each update is specifically chosen to best serve the needs of the surrounding community. The company's team of restaurant designers has even taken customer walking patterns into consideration, configuring dining room layouts in a way that makes it easier and faster to get fresh, made-to-order food.

McDonald's digital innovation

The exciting digital enhancements are not just limited to the in-restaurant experience. Remodeled restaurants will make it easier for customers to satisfy cravings from anywhere with the McDonald’s app and McDelivery from Uber Eats.

Mobile Order & Pay now offers a new level of choice and convenience, allowing customers to pick up their order however they like: inside at the front counter, at the drive-thru window or in a curbside parking spot. Orders can be submitted through the McDonald’s App, and as soon as customers enter the geofence of the restaurant, McDonald's begin preparing the order so it’s made hot and fresh.

McDonald's is also acquiring a leader in personalization and decision logic, Dynamic Yield. This means putting personalization at the center of the McDonald’s experience. Drive Thru integration will allow food to be served better and faster, while customized menu displays will show different menu options based on time of day, weather, current restaurant traffic and trending menu items. McDonald's is rolling this technology out at restaurants in the United States and then expanding to other international markets.

McDonald's has brought the Experience of the Future to half of its 14,000 U.S. restaurants, which is great progress toward its goal of transforming all U.S. restaurants over the coming years.
