EYs Amanda Donohue listed in Crains 40 under 40

EY's Amanda Donohue listed in Crain's 40 under 40

EY has long received kudos for promoting female executives. But nine years ago, when Amanda Donohue looked around her finance transformation department, “I didn’t see anyone who looked like me,” she recalled. “I was about to go on maternity leave, and I thought, Am I going to be able to do this?”

Amanda initiated EY's women's mentoring program

That experience moved her to develop a firmwide women’s mentoring program to connect female employees with female senior managers across departments and locations.“It’s important for women at junior levels to be able to look up at great female leadership they can align with, especially when they might not see it at their own location,” she said.

Amanda is a regional leader of EY’s Professional Women’s Network. She is also an advisory leader for the firm's Greater New York market segment, for which she manages relationships with dozens of Fortune 500 clients who need EY’s expertise to use accounting and financial software more effectively.

“Amanda is very action-oriented,” said Sonia Sande, a fellow principal at EY. “She cares passionately about developing people, and what makes her different is that she’ll actually go and set up new groups and mentoring networks.”

Indeed, Amanda and her husband helped begin the New York chapter of the Star Legacy Foundation after their third child was stillborn; they raised $200,000 for stillborn research in two years. “So many people were there to help me,” she said. “I just want to pay it forward.”
