Schneider Electric CEO on company's diversity recognition

Schneider Electric Chairman and CEO Jean-Pascal Tricoire shares his thoughts on Schneider Electric's prestigious recognition by the Catalyst Award and the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, particularly the company's inclusive policies and practices that empower its employees to contribute their best.

"I am really proud to share that we continue to be recognized for our actions to become a more gender inclusive company," says Jean-Pascal.

Changing workplaces, communities and lives

Schneider Electric have been selected in India as one of the four winners of the Catalyst Award, which is given to a company that has made positive changes to its workplace culture by recruiting, developing and advancing women and diverse groups. The company must demonstrate groundbreaking diversity and inclusion programs have changed workplaces, communities, and lives. 

Since 2015 Schneider Electric has increased by 40% the representation of women in position of senior leadership in India.

"We are receiving this recognition for Schneider Electric India's holistic approach for gender inclusion. Inclusive, flexible, empowering. These were the words that Catalyst used to describe our policies on our approach to inclusion on diversity in India," explains Jean-Pascal.

"Leaders at all levels have demonstrated strong personal commitment to attract and retain women. And the changes in the past four years have been strikingly visible."

Empowering people through policies

As well as the Catalyst Award, Schneider Electric have been included in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, which recognises over 200 companies who maintain transparent gender reporting, promote women’s equality in the workplace, have a high number of executive women, and who have the best policies and benefits to drive gender inclusion.

"What has been really appreciated and recognized by the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index is our policies: the Global Family Leave policy, the pay equity framework and our flexibility of work principles, which allow all of us at Schneider, empower us to manage, as we wish, the balance between our life and our work," adds Jean-Paschal.

"We've had great successes in 2018, and we are proud to be recognized. But it's just one step of the journey. And our commitment to inclusion, gender inclusion, and gender parity remains intact."
