In line with DXC Technology's community focused commitments, the company has officially launched a partnership with the Manchester United Foundation and local community to build a new era, starting with youth and technology. The DXC Technology and Manchester United Foundation partnership helps build a new era off the pitch, including mentoring young people in the community, instructing on new technologies and teaching skills for future technology careers. And many girls with STEM aspirations will benefit from the partnership and its support.

Inspiring young people in the local community

DXC Technology partnership inspiring future leaders

The partnership aims to inspire young people in the local community to explore new technologies and become social leaders of the future.

Through DXC Technology's exciting partnership, students from Manchester United Foundation's partner schools have opportunities to hear from DXC Technology employees about career pathways in the technology sector.

To celebrate the partnership, DXC Technology and Manchester United employees hosted a digital skills workshop at Old Trafford, the football stadium home to Manchester United. With a focus on collaboration, creativity and design, participants enjoyed activities such as coding, and developing a Manchester United app.

DXC Technology employees hosted a carousel of digital workshops for year eight students from Manchester United Foundation's partner schools. Scratch, an app on the student's laptops, was an activity that students participated in, and is a user-friendly way of learning programming. It consists of pre-programmed blocks of code that students can drop onto their screen and program their characters. DXC Technology employees gave the students a brief to create a game that the Manchester United players could use to practice their skills, such as where a player heads a ball and a score is kept.

DXC Technology hopes that the digital skills that the students are learning will influence some of the decisions they make in the future.
