Thales has engineering and technology two-year accredited programmes

The Engineering Graduate Development Programme runs parallel to your engineering role and is accredited by The Institution of Engineering and Technology, The Institution of Mechanical Engineers, The Royal Aeronautical Society, The Institute of Physics, and the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. Thales will pay your annual membership fees for a relevant engineering institution.

Thales recruits for a wide range of engineering roles in specific UK locations, and would like to hear from you whatever engineering, technology or scientific discipline you are from. You could join Thales in Systems, Software, Hardware, Electronics, Test, Mechanical, Quality, Research & Development, Manufacturing, Finance, Business Management, Acoustics or Information Security.
 
The Engineering Graduate Development Programme forms the backbone of your professional development and will be supplemented by a structured training plan. Over two years, you’ll attend training courses, mainly at Thales sites in the UK and learn on the job under the guidance of senior colleagues. You’ll also be set challenges that you’ll complete as part of a team with graduates on other sites, giving you and your peers the chance to innovate for the organisation and put your learning into practice.

Business and finance rotations and variety

If you’re an ambitious, top-class graduate, Thales will give you the training and attention to realise your potential. This Graduate Development Programme runs parallel with your placement on the Business Management or Finance Programme. It offers everything from an introduction to the organisation, culture and processes to formal training in the form of seminars, specialist courses and visits.
 
Outstanding graduates with a degree in any subject can join the Business Management Programme, which comprises of four six-month placements within your chosen business area. You might work in Programme Management, Commercial, Purchasing/Procurement, Sales & Marketing or Head Office functions - and you could do it at a number of sites across the UK.
 
If you’re a driven graduate and your degree is finance-related, you could also apply for the Finance Programme, which will see you undertake three 12-month rotations in various Thales businesses throughout the UK.
 
Whichever programme you choose, you’ll have a unique opportunity to experience a range of business-related work across Thales. And, after completing your third rotation, you can apply to join them in a permanent role at one of our UK sites.

Salary and benefits

Starting salaries are extremely competitive. They vary between £25,500 and £27,000 dependent on programme and you'll benefit from structured assessments that will inform your performance-related pay review. In addition, you can also look forward to a host of rewards, including:

What Thales is looking for

Thales welcomes applications from recent graduates with or without work experience and mature students from all universities. If you have significant work experience, you may be directed to the professional hire route. For the majority of engineering roles you’ll need at least a 2.1 degree, although for some roles a 2.2 will suffice. In Business Management and Finance, you’ll need at least a 2.1 degree. Self-ambition is important, as are a set of competencies, including the ability to:
- shape solutions out of complexity
- cooperate and work as a team
- accept accountability
- influence key stakeholders
- manage yourself
You may also be required to undertake Security Clearance in order to work on some projects - please check the requirements against each role.
